International Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony Nagpur

The third International Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony was held in Nagpur from November 1st to 3rd 2014 inside the Deekshabhoomi Temple. Participants chanted the Digha Nikaya suttas, and LBDFI invited 24 Theravada bhikkhus from Thailand and Myanmar to lead in the chanting ceremony along with 200 Indian sangha. This was the first ever recitation held inside the stupa.

International Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony, Sri Lanka

The Third International Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony Kandy will be held from December 19th to 21st 2014. All are welcome to join in this auspicious event. LBDFI will be sponsoring free distribution of the Majjima Nikaya for all participants and certificates will be handed out upon completion. Following the Chanting Ceremony, the entire Sangha will go to Sri Pada on pilgrimage to offer gold leaf for the World Peace. A few volunteers from Europe and USA will be joining for this program to make this offering.

International Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony Berkeley

Over 50 Theravada monks and 100 laypeople joined in a procession through the University of Berkeley Campus on the morning of October 9th 2014. At the Doe Memorial library, Professor Robert Sharf, Professor of Buddhist Studies Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures accepted a gift of a decorated scroll in front of the assembled Sangha. The procession then progressed to the shrine hall within the Mangalam Centre, 1018 Allston way, for the opening ceremony of the event.
