Hear the Words of the Buddha Under the Bodhi Tree-History in the Making

Less Than 62 Days to

Special Invitation to the 19th Tipitaka Chanting Program

Dear Friends and Devotees,

I am delighted and honored to share some exciting news with you. This year, the Cambodian Sangha from around the world will serve as the Chief Organizers for the 19th International Tipitaka Chanting Program at the Seat of Enlightenment, taking place from December 2nd to 13th, 2024.

What began humbly in 2006, with just 250 bhikkhus, a small group of devoted followers, and the steadfast support of our visionary patron, Venerable Tarthang Tulku, has blossomed into a global celebration. The dream of reviving the Theravada Mahasangha and bringing it back to the Motherland has now become a reality—entering its 19th year.

Today, thousands of lay devotees come together, offering their time, energy, and financial support to make this event possible. This remarkable journey shows how the dedication of one person can light a lamp that illuminates the way for many. We invite you to join us this year as we unite to share the profound teachings of the Buddha in Pali, strengthened by the power of unity within the Mahasangha—our fourfold community—working together to preserve the Buddha’s timeless words.

Announcing Esteemed Dharma Speakers from December 3rd-11th, 2024

Exciting News

We have launched a new website which covers 19 years of our work in preserving, protecting and promoting the sacred sites of the Buddha.

You can now see all our work here:

www.lbdfi.org

But our journey doesn’t end at Bodhgaya. After the Tipitaka Chanting Program, we will embark on foot to 23 new sites across India over a two-month period, awakening the Dharma in smaller Buddhist communities. At each location, we will initiate the 1st Tipitaka Chanting Program, laying the foundation for years of future gatherings.

This initiative is about rekindling India’s connection to its most precious treasure—the Dharma—and returning it to Bodhgaya, where we anticipate thousands will return from across India in 2025-26 to lead as organizers.

Our mission transcends borders and welcomes monks from all corners of the globe to embark on a transformative journey—walking in the footsteps of the Buddha. By retracing the path of the Blessed One, we aim to ignite a collective remembrance of his profound teachings in this modern era. We believe in sharing in the merit of goodness. You can join us by sponsoring a monk to join our Dharmayatra here.

Reflecting on how far we’ve come, I am deeply moved by our collective efforts to extend the light of Buddhasasana. This has been a story of immense reverence, faith, and collective goodness, especially after a 700-year silence of Pali chanting. Guided by the wisdom of the Mahasangha and the support of the International Tipitaka Chanting Council, we have worked step by step to restore the light of the Dharma to Aryadesh, reviving the sacred places where the Buddha once walked and taught.

India to Lead as Chief Organiser in 2025-26

Dharmayatra Throughout India-Merit Works!

Starting in January 2025, we are embarking on a monumental spiritual journey—a two-month extensive tour across the sacred landscapes of India which includes walking from place to place. Our mission is clear: to ignite awareness and unity, and to inspire Indians to take on the historic mantle of Chief Organiser in 2025-26.

We will not only be reciting the words of the Buddha in each place but also walking close to 10 km to each sacred site. You can sponsor one monk and/or one nun for $4,000 for our two month program. EVERY DONATION COUNTS.

Please fill out this form if you and your organisation are interested in being a part of this program.

Together, let us ignite the hearts and minds of all Indian people across this beautiful Motherland to embody the timeless wisdom of the Buddha. We welcome you to also become a part of this historical unfolding. We hope to create an Indian database over the next two years.

You can see our entire program here.
