Our History
In 2015, the President of Myanmar came to Bodhgaya and range the World Peace Bell there. He then asked the President of the ITCC who was accompanying him whether such a bell could be donated to the world famous Schwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, Myanmar. Tarthang Rinpoche readily agreed to this request, and Wangmo,
the director of LBDFI arranged permissions from the Schwedagon committee and oversaw the installation of the Bell in 2016. A suitable site was found within the Peace Garden, directly beside the Buddha statue that was gifted by the Government of India. LBDFI also sponsored the gold leafing of the arch in 2017.
