Our History

Federal capital of India, LBDFI has been conducting chanting ceremonies at the Aurobindo Ashram headquarters since 2017. Sponsored by the Khyentse Foundation, LBDFI organized the 5th Dhammapada program there from November 2nd to 3rd 2023

In 2014 LBDFI approached the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in the heart of New Delhi to initiate a chanting program in the capital city of India. Tara Didi, who owns the Ashram, welcomed the idea and has supported the program every year since that date.

What did the Buddha teach here according to the Pali Canon:

So  i have heard. At one time the Buddha was staying in the land of the
Kurus, near theKurutownnamedKammāsadamma.TheretheBuddha
addressed the mendicants, “Mendicants!”
“Venerable sir,” they replied. The Buddha said this:
“Mendicants, the four kinds of mindfulness meditation are the path
to convergence. They are in order to purify sentient beings, to get past
sorrowandcrying,tomakeanendofpainandsadness,toendthecycle
of suffering, and to realize extinguishment.
