Peace Bell Sankisa
our History
LBDFI began a search for suitable sites for a Peace bell in Sankissa in 2009. As the main stupa is two miles from the monastic compound, it was decided to house the bell within a monastery compound, and the Burmese Abbot in Sankissa graciously agreed to provide some land. Accordingly a 5 tonne peace bell was commissioned in Germany, imported into India and erected in the autumn months of 2011. A formal opening was held in January 2012.
