We are delighted to share the news of our most significant gathering to date, held under the Sacred Bodhi Tree from December 2nd-12th, 2023. Together, we accomplished a historical celebration that of the opening of the Vinaya Pitaka.
Highlights of the Gathering:
- Sacred Bodhi Tree Gathering: An assembly of the eleven countries to include (Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and United States) with senior elders from each country. Prayers were dedicated to World Peace and Inner Harmony and to the Preservation of the Buddhadharma in Land of its Origin.
- Vinaya Pitaka Unveiling: We opened the book of the Vinaya Pitaka for the first time, reciting from a beautifully bound hard copy offered freely in six scripts. We also held the first Pattimokka sample recitation on the last day (which fell on the New Moon).
- Global Participation: Nearly 10,000 participants from around the world, with a special acknowledgment to the Cambodian Mahasangha for their exceptional leadership.
