Venerable Mahasangha of LBDFI participated in 4th International Tipitaka Chanting and Buddhist Conclave at Jetavana, Sravasti on 7-8th November. Buddha spent 25 Rainy seasons at Sravasti and six of those were at the monastery of Visakha. Venerable Mahasangha visited the remains of Pubbarama, the monastery of Visakha and offered prayers. In 2013 LBDFI installed a Dharma Bell in the historic site of Sankasya, the site where the Buddha returned to the earth from the heavenly realm at the end of the seventh Vassa, having taught the Abhidamma to his mother and other devas. It is also recorded that the Buddha returned every day to eat in the northern continent, and Sariputta went there by his psychic power and served him and so was able to receive the teachings, returning to Sankasya to write them down every evening in a nearby vihara. Because of this, Sankasya is associated with the Abhidamma and venerated by all Buddhists as one of the eight ancient sites of pilgrimage.

New Delhi. Around 5,000 monks and nuns from around the world, including from India will be gathering in Bodhgaya from December 2 to 12, 2023 for the 18th International Tipitaka chanting Programme. As a precursor to this event, a symposium was held at the National Museum today on “Revival of Buddha Dhamma in the Land of Origin”, organised jointly by the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) and the Light of Buddha Dharma Foundation International (LBDFI) of Berkeley, US, which is leading a pilgrimage this week of 40 international monks to many Buddhist sites in India.Starting her pilgrimage in India, Dr Wangmo Dixey, Executive Director of LBDFI said, “today is an auspicious beginning as we start our Dharma Training Wheel program with 45 monastics from Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, India and Tibet. We begin our journey here, in Delhi, the capital of the homeland of Buddhism, and start by reciting from the Dhammapada, the profound text that has guided countless individuals on the path of wisdom and enlightenment.

Vaishali is deeply associated with the buddha. Buddha gave many important sermons here Lucchivis of Vaishali enshrined their share of body relics of buddha here. Venerable Mahasangha of LBDFI recited sutta at the relic stupa site. Local school children also participated in the event.
