Berkeley
Since the International Tipitaka chanting programs continue to grow, it became obvious to us to honor Rinpoche’s birthday celebration in our home center in Berkeley with a Tipitaka chanting program. Founded in 2014 and held every year since at Mangalam Centers in downtown Berkeley, CA, this event is attended by more than 50 eminent Theravada monks and nuns from Northern California’s Burmese, Cambodian, Laotian, Thai, Sri Lankan and Vietnamese Buddhist temples.
Texts chanted include the Dighanikaya in Romanized format. Monastics are supported by food offerings made by local Buddhist groups and businesses, and given traditional Saṅghadana, including robes and monastic requisites. The dates of this ceremony tend to fall around October 10th in honor of Rinpoche’s birthday and is celebrated in a grand way with a beautiful cake and incredible flowers.
THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS AND SISTER ORGANISATIONS
