Vesak Celebration at the White House

Dear Dharma College Community,

I hope this message finds you well and that you are enjoying your final term before we start the summer break. I am filled with joy and gratitude to share some wonderful news with you all.

Recently, I had the incredible honor of being in Washington DC to help establish the fourth annual Vesak celebration inside the White House. This moment was profoundly significant for all of us. It not only showcased the beauty and wisdom of our traditions in our nation’s capital but also demonstrated that more individuals are embracing these teachings as a path for everyday living.

We were privileged to have the vice president of applications of Apple, Roger Rosner joined us to speak about the relevance of the dharma in today’s world. As they eloquently put it, “Today, I am heartened to see how the wisdom, ethics, and practice of the Buddha’s teachings are growing in America. Meditation is being embraced in schools, households, and meditation centers across the country, providing fundamental tools for well-being to more and more people. It is my hope and aspiration that this event will inspire still more.”

You can relive the experience through the livestream on the White House channel, which reaches an audience of over 2.1 million followers. Here’s the link: Watch the Vesak Celebration.

Our celebration also caught the eye of the Second Gentleman, who shared it on his Instagram. You can see it here: View on Instagram.

Another historic moment was our first-ever walk at the National Monument, which was a beautiful public event for Buddhists in America. This event, in partnership with the Tzu Chi Foundation, highlighted Dharma College as a key collaborator, bringing us wonderful publicity and strengthening our community. Watch the event here: View the walk.

Join us on this sacred endeavor as we honor the legacy of the Buddha and work towards a world enlightened by his teachings.

Here is our group photo on May 23rd, 2024. All three traditions including prominent lay representatives of the Buddhist tradition came together to celebrate VESAK.

Now, here at Dharma College if you are looking to get head start for our Fall term (to prepare for yourself to start the popular Searcher Reaches Land’s Limits which will be taught by our Dean himself!) Welcome to a Calm Place, Self Paced Course

Finally,  I hope some of you will join me for my summer retreat on bringing joy into work this August. This retreat is a special opportunity to explore how to juggle many tasks while truly enjoying the work we do and viewing it as a meaningful offering.

We have a unique summer retreat program designed to help you find balance, cultivate joy, and enhance your productivity in a way that feels fulfilling and rewarding. I look forward to sharing this enriching experience with you.

With all best wishes,
